Benefit card funds can be used for yourself and your household dependents. (Complying the IRS guidelines as these are pretax funds (Pretax deductions are taken from an employee's paycheck before any taxes are withheld. Because they are excluded from gross pay for taxation purposes, pretax deductions reduce taxable income and the amount of money owed to the government.) Please refer to below eligible expenses allowed to use with your benefit card: The benefit card can be used for work-related qualified expenses within the State of New York for below: - Commuter benefit: Mass Transportation (Metro cards, LIRR tickets, etc...) and parking - Prescription and medical (dental, vision) copayments - Monthly cell phone plan payments (up to $100/month) - Qualified OTC (over-the-counter) items at pharmacies and drug stores *Temporary Covid-19 eligible merchants: - Grocery stores/Supermarkets (for essential items)
The provided benefit card can only be used for the above listed eligible expenses and purposes. In addition to previously provided list of eligible expenses, please be advised ineligible expenses include but not limited to below:
- Gas
- Personal leisure items or services
- Third party websites/marketplaces (e.g. Amazon, Walmart, etc…)
- Merchants categorized as Wholesalers (Costco, BJ’s, etc…)
- Discount stores, retail stores (Target, Walmart, etc…)
